Lawn Seed

Our Earl May professionals know grass. We have mixed the best varieties of different types of lawn seed together to provide solutions to the homeowner. Whether you have full sun, full shade, or something in between we have a premium mixture blended to suit your needs.

Our lawn seed varieties are specially selected to meet the rigors of an Earl May exclusive blend. By purchasing the best turf varieties available on the market, you are getting the most recent technology in disease resistance, vigor, and deep green color. Each blend is mixed by our own professionals to ensure quality in every package.

Bluegrasses

The bluegrass lawn is probably the most widely seen type of lawn in the upper Midwest. With many types of bluegrass varieties on the market, we’ve selected some of the best performers. Plant bluegrasses in full sun or part sun. Germinates in 3-4 weeks with ample moisture.

Ryegrasses

Perennial types provide good wear tolerance and quick germination. Plant in full sun to part sun. Germinates in about 7-14 days with ample moisture.

Turf-type Tall Fescue

These are the fine-bladed types new to the market, not the wide bladed older styles. If you are looking for durability in high traffic areas or drought & heat tolerance, choose a tall fescue lawn. Very adaptable, fescues will grow in sun or shade. Germination typically occurs in about 7-14 days with ample moisture.

Fine Fescue

Known as the fescue for deep shade, this fine-bladed grass will perform under most trees & deeply shaded spots where other grass seed varieties have failed. Note: there are locations where no grass will grow. The soft look and feel of fine fescue will blend nicely with bluegrass and perennial ryegrass lawns.

Warm season grasses

These grasses green up later than their cool-season counterparts, but have tremendous heat & drought tolerance to stay greener in the heat of the summer. Many require only a portion of the rainfall that a typical turf would require to keep a nice green color.
