Details

Earl May Crabgrass Preventer Plus Lawn Food contains a pre-emergent herbicide that provides residual control of many grasses and broadleaf weeds in turfgrasses. Earl May Crabgrass Preventer Plus Lawn Food has the longest-lasting crabgrass control available, combined with a specially formulated extended-release fertilizer. This product controls susceptible weeds by inhibiting weed seed germination and root development.

  • Season-long control - up to four months
  • For pre-emergent control of grass and broadleaf weeds in established lawns and turfgrasses
  • Also controls Spurge and Foxtail
  • Contains iron and sulfur for extra deep greening

This professional quality crabgrass control lasts up to four months and will only break down in warm weather. This means you can put it on early in the season without having to worry about the exact timing.

The extended-release fertilizer feeds up to three months and has iron and sulfur added for our Midwestern soils. Iron will give a lawn its deep green color without making it grow fast. The secret is having the soil pH low enough so that the iron will be used by the lawn. Too high of a pH and it is useless. Sulfur lowers the pH so the iron will do its job. The best part about the fertilizer is that it feeds gradually over a longer period of time. This means you won't be mowing every other day for a few weeks and then have your lawn turn yellow after 2 weeks like other brands do.

NOTE: This product will inhibit the germination of turf species if overseeded or reseeded too soon after application. The interval between application and overseeding/reseeding is dependent on the application rate, soil temperature, and soil moisture. A shorter interval is possible if growing conditions are warm and wet, while a longer interval is needed if conditions are cool and dry. See back of bag for intervals table.

Direction for Use: Apply uniformly through suitable, calibrated application equipment. It is important to follow directions as indicated as over-applicaiton may cause injury to the lawn. Measure the size of the area to be treated and do not over or under apply. Check the back of the bag for spreader settings for both broadcast and drop spreaders.

Spreader settings are approximate. Differences may occur due to condition of spreader, speed at which applied, and roughness of area treated. Calibrate spreader prior to use according to the manufacturer's directions. Check frequently to be sure equipment is. working properly and distributing uniformly. Close spreader when filling, stopping, or turning. Do not apply by hand or with a hand held spreader.

Close spreader hopper and adjust the spreader setting using suggested spreader settings chart on back of bag. Fill spreader on driveway or sidewalk to eliminate the chance of spillage on the lawn. Iron may stain concrete surfaces and should not be applied on water dampened concrete and should be removed from these areas promptly after application by sweeping or blowing. Do not wash this product from concrete surfaces with water.
