You walked outside and noticed a new weed popping up. What is it? Is it Nutsedge? If so, how do I get rid of it?
Those are all questions commonly asked at our garden centers each day. The weather conditions in our area have been prime for Nutsedge this season and like most homeowners in the Midwest, you've probably seen it showing up in your lawn.
Nutsedge is a pesky weed that seeks out moist, poorly drained sections of your lawn. Nutsedge sticks out from lawns because of its yellowish /green color and unusual triangular blades. It also grows faster than the rest of the lawn, making it easy to spot.
Now that we know what it is, how do we get rid of it? Hand pulling does not kill this weed entirely as small nutlets remain underground and will eventually grow. Pulling this weed leads to more plants sprouting up later.
We recommend using our Sedge Ender for the best control. This product does a fantastic job of killing Nutsedge and several other listed weeds. You’ll see results in just a few days after applying!
As always, visit your local Earl May Nursery & Garden Center for all your lawn and garden questions and needs.
