The holiday season is fast approaching and if you haven’t thought about a Christmas tree yet, we bet you will soon! We’ve put together a few tips and reminders to keep your fresh cut tree looking beautiful.

Your tree must have a fresh cut on the trunk of at least 1–2”.

The cut will close up quickly, so add warm water within a couple of hours.

Use a tree preservative and watch the water level.

If the water level drops below the fresh cut, the sap will seal the bottom and the tree will dry out.

Keep the tree in a cool shaded spot, in water, until bringing it inside your home.

For best results, wait until after December 5th to bring inside. Once inside, place your tree away from heating vents, TV’s, fireplaces and sunny windows (closing blinds and/or curtains during the day). For easier clean up lay out removal bag under tree stand.

Make sure the tree is taking up water, before decorating your tree.

If it’s not, a fresh cut must be made. Keep an eye on the water level, checking daily, and add water as needed. Following these simple steps for a fabulous looking tree!
