Organic Planting Mix
Details
Earl May Organic Planting Mix is a rich, organic blend designed for all outdoor in-ground plantings, including gardens, fower beds, and landscape plantings. Our Planting Mix contains a special combination of organic materials derived from peat humus, organic compost, sphagnum peat moss, limestone, and gypsum (pH 6-6.5 after wetting).
Organic Planting Mix improves the quality of the soil by adding beneficial soil microbes and rich organic matter. It's great for mixing with clay or sandy soils, helping plants survive during dry conditions and produce more flowers and greener foliage. Organic Planting Mix makes an excellent amendment to garden soils prior to spring planting.
Size: 30 dry quart bag
Directions for Use:
Planting Trees & Shrubs: Make generous-sized planting holes. Mix excavated soil 50-50 with organic Planting Mix. Fill hole with the mixture until the rootball is level with surrounding soil. Fill the rest of the hole with the mixture, then compress the soil to remove air pockets. Cover with mulch.
Vegetable Gardens & Flower Beds: Till organic Planting Mix into the top 4-6 inches of existing soil before planting. This keeps plants from drying out as quickly and provides organic matter to support better plant growth and more flowers.
Fertilizer Recommendations: Plants will benefit from a regular feeding program. We recommend Earl May Garden and Plant Food Plus - extended release granular all-purpose plant food. Consult with our knowledgeable staff to determine a year-round feeding program that meets your plant's needs.
Watering: Water new plants promptly and frequently. Water daily on hot, dry days, and less often when it is cloudy and cool. For best results, use a moisture meter to determine if watering is needed.
Storage: Close the bag tightly after each use to keep soil clean and moist.
